How to organise your test at CC60

In order to exploit CC60 facility, several constraints and procedures should be taken into account:

  1. Request irradiation time well in advance: CC60 is in high demand, a minimum lead time of 4 weeks is generally necessary from the request to the test execution. Start by filling out the online request.
  2. Discuss the feasibility of your test; we’ll get in touch upon receiving your test request form. It may be necessary to adapt your plan to the facility operation; if you request a high (>1 kGy) dose, we may have to arrange a parallel test with a second user.
  3. Access to the irradiation room and to the equipment in the buffer zone is only possible Mon-Fri 9-18, due to the security regulations in place for high-activity sources. In any case, access to these areas requires the presence of CC60 personnel. No access during weekends or holidays is possible. Therefore,
  4. set up remote controls/remote connections for your active test, as your equipment won’t be freely accessible during the test.
  5. A CERN personal dosimeter is required to access the buffer zone and the Irradiation room, as these are classified as Supervised and Controlled areas, respectively. No Operational dosimeter or IMPACT is required. Please click here to learn how to get a CERN personal dosimeter.
